Before you apply
- Live since 20 Dec 2025. Income floor is 50x the monthly minimum wage (~EUR 31,000/year) and floats with the minimum wage.
- Bulgaria's famous flat 10% tax only bites if you become tax-resident (over 183 days) — and income must come only from outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland; no local clients.
- Two-stage process: a Type D visa at a Bulgarian consulate first (Ukraine's Schengen waiver doesn't cover it), then a residence card. Hard 2-year ceiling, no path to permanent residence.
