Before you apply
- The official eFNS application page lists NO fixed income figure — only 3 months of bank statements or payslips proving monthly income. The widely-quoted USD 55,000/year is from the 2024 launch; some 2026 trackers now say USD 24,000. Treat the threshold as unsettled and confirm the current figure with the Directorate before applying.
- You must submit a letter of no objection from your home country's embassy in Kenya — an extra step many applicants miss. Ukrainians obtain it from the Ukrainian mission accredited to Kenya.
- Fees are steep and front-loaded: USD 200 processing (non-refundable) plus USD 1,000 per year of the permit.
- More than 183 days in a 12-month period makes you a Kenyan tax resident on WORLDWIDE income unless a double-tax treaty applies — and Ukraine has none with Kenya. Foreign remote income is otherwise outside Kenyan PAYE.
- Open to any nationality, but you still need a Kenya eTA (USD 30) to enter — Ukrainians are not eTA-exempt. Renew the permit at least 60 days before it expires.
- The permit does not lead directly to permanent residence.
