Before you apply
- Income is USD 2,000/month (plus USD 500/month per dependent beyond two), and the fee is USD 500/year per person — including spouse and each child. Ignore the '$1,500 / 5-year visa' figures in the press; the official category sheet says USD 2,000 and 12 months.
- Renewal is conditional on registering with Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue — expect local tax exposure if you become resident. All income must be foreign-sourced.
- It's a paper/in-person application via the Immigration Department, and you first need a recommendation from the Ministry of Digital Economy; heavy document load (police clearance, medical, insurance).
