Before you apply

• This is not a dedicated nomad visa — it's a remote-work condition on the ordinary visitor visa / NZeTA (since 27 Jan 2025). No income requirement and no cap on remote work, but you cannot work for a New Zealand employer, serve NZ clients, or do any job needing physical presence at an NZ workplace.
• Tax trap: if you stay beyond your exemption, New Zealand taxes your service income at resident rates from DAY ONE — not from the day you crossed the threshold.
• The exemption length depends on a tax treaty: a NZ tax-treaty country gives up to 183 days; without one, only 92 days in a 12-month period. Ukraine has NO tax treaty with New Zealand, so Ukrainians are capped at the 92-day window before NZ tax applies.
• Ukraine is NOT on New Zealand's visa-waiver list, so Ukrainians cannot use the cheap NZeTA — they must apply for a visitor visa in advance. Visitor visas run up to 9 months; visa-waiver/NZeTA visitors get up to 90 days.
• Fees differ by nationality and are approximate: a visitor visa is roughly NZD 441 including the tourism/conservation levy (IVL); NZeTA nationals pay far less.
• No path to residence or citizenship — it is a visitor status. (Separately, the special Ukraine Resident Visa category closes to new applications on 16 March 2026.)
